At Earth’s Essence, we believe that what you drink should be naturally preserved, purposeful, and extraordinary. Our story began in 2010, on a small wine farm in Stellenbosch, when founder Trevor Strydom discovered something extraordinary and revolutionary – in a humble cup of rooibos tea. After a long day in the cellar, Trevor’s daughter Sarah-Jane offered him a freshly brewed cup of rooibos tea. That simple gesture sparked a bold idea: Could the powerful natural antioxidants in rooibos replace having to add sulphur as a synthetic preservative to wine? The answer changed everything, ending with the launch of a totally new category of delicious rooibos inspired naturally preserved wine, beer, and cider products.

R&D STORY
Rooted in South African soil, backed by science with patent process innovation at our core – Since 2011, our research and development has pioneered the use of rooibos (Aspalathus Linearis) and honeybush (Cyclopia Genistoides) antioxidant oenological tannins and extracts in the natural preservation of wine, beer, and cider. The breakthrough use of nature’s powerful antioxidants and polyphenols has allowed us to eliminate having to add synthetic and chemical preservatives, like sulphites to our products, thereby creating a range of ‘better for you’ naturally preserved beverages.Why Choose Us?
